At all times, Matatec personnel will follow the safety guidelines of the owner/client who is ultimately responsible for the safety of our workers.
Supervision
Unless expressly stated otherwise in our offer/quotation, all work would normally be carried out under the supervision of the owner/clients staff.
Working Hours
Personnel will work a minimum of 12 hours per day (including meal breaks totalling one hour) seven days per week. Owners/client will be charged for the full 12 hours per day. Additional hours worked (overtime) will be charged at standard hourly rates. No premium rates apply. On certain contracts there may be some variance to the above working hours but this will be clearly defined in our offer/quotation.
Protective Clothing
All Matatec personnel will be provided with overalls and boots. Due to the nature of the work, should additional safety gear be required it is the responsibility of the owner/client.
Stoppages/Delays
Where contracted work can not be carried out due to circumstances beyond our control, personnel will be charged for at the contract hourly rate. The owner/client can arrange for alternative work to be carried out during this period.
Travelling
All travel costs, including fares, subsistence, visas and travel time are to owner/client account. If Matatec provides travel tickets etc., 12½% will be added to cover for administration expenses. Unless agreed otherwise owner/client will be responsible for arranging and paying for all costs to repatriate personnel to their place and country of origin. It is the owner/client or their agents, who are responsible for assisting our personnel to/from airports or terminals to their end destination and similarly on their return at end of contract.
Travel Delays
Should any delays beyond the control of Matatec prevent personnel from commencing work/joining a vessel, the owner/client will be charged the agreed standard hourly rates of pay until such time as work can commence.

Matatec maintains employers liability insurance for both UK and foreign employees up to a limit of £5 million together with full medical and personal accident insurance. A Shiprepair/public liability policy of £1 million covers third party liabilities both at sea and ashore. In the event of any accident or medical emergency, Matatec must be notified within 24 hours and a full report provided. Medical expenses incurred by our personnel are to Matatec’s account, but must be advised within one month of the incident. Any claims after that period will not be accepted.
