HISTORY & ORGANISATION
Matatec was formed some 26 years ago to meet
the demands of the marine industry supplying spares and labour for all aspects
of hatch cover maintenance. It became obvious that other work/maintenance could
be undertaken whilst their vessels were trading. Hence, Matatec diversified
into all aspects of sea going maintenance (SGM) by supplying skilled labour,
equipment and materials to conduct any work scope needing attention.
Matatec now also provides the ship owner with the option of a complete
Turnkey Package; from feasibility studies, surveys, all hotworks,
pipe and electrical installations, blasting and painting to final joinery and
outfit completion, all to owners and classifications satisfaction.
Personnel employed by Matatec have vast experience within the shipping world
and understand the owners need to keep his vessel at sea, but honour the safety
requirements set out by classification societies.
Many projects have
been undertaken by Matatec working on various types of vessels i.e. oil
tankers, gas tankers, bulk carriers, ferries, cruise liners, offshore work
FPSOs etc. each type of vessel having its own working restrictions and
rules to observe. Projects can be 'tailor made' to suit the shipowners
needs in that not only can total projects be managed by Matatec, but can be
limited to the supply of labour only, working directly for the ship's officers.
This gives the ship owner the comfort to budget his project in line with his
financial parameters.
This brief outline of Matatec sets out to
illustrate that, no matter how small or large a project Matatec are
available with the correct attitude and commitment for a successful and cost
effective solution to any onboard repair or maintenance project.
